A Complete Guide to Nicole Kidman’s Real Estate Portfolio

Nicole Kidman has quietly built one of the most interesting real estate portfolios in Hollywood, not by flipping houses for a quick profit, but by holding onto properties long enough to put her own stamp on them. Over the last thirty years, the Lioness star has bought, renovated, and occasionally sold homes that come with serious architectural pedigree, often keeping them for a decade or more before letting go.

Her approach is less about investment math and more about personal connection. In the early 1990s, she and then-husband Tom Cruise purchased a sprawling estate in the rolling hills of Telluride, Colorado. That property, a rustic compound with log beams and stone fireplaces, stayed in her hands long after the marriage ended. She only sold it in 2021, nearly three decades after the initial purchase, for a figure well above what they paid.

Her New York footprint tells a similar story. Kidman bought a penthouse in a landmarked Greenwich Village building in the mid-2000s, a space known for its high ceilings and pre-war bones. She renovated it carefully, keeping the original moldings while updating the kitchen and baths. That apartment became her base during Broadway runs and film shoots on the East Coast. She held onto it for years before listing it quietly, letting the market do the work.

The crown jewel, though, is the estate she shares with Keith Urban in the Sutherland Shire, south of Sydney. That property, set on a private peninsula with water views on three sides, was originally a modest beach house. Kidman and Urban tore it down and rebuilt from scratch, adding a main residence, a separate guest wing, and a pool that seems to melt into the harbor. It is not a house you see on the market. It is the one they intend to keep.

What makes her portfolio unusual is the patience. She does not churn. She buys places with character, fixes them with respect, and then lives in them until they feel like hers. When she does sell, the buyers are often getting a home that has been cared for, not stripped and staged. That is a rare thing in celebrity real estate, where most transactions are quick and transactional. Kidman plays the long game, and it has paid off both financially and personally.
