Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in central London over the weekend to protest an event promoting the sale of land and property in illegal Israeli settlements. The gathering, organized by several activist groups, targeted a real estate expo that they say violates international law and fuels the occupation of Palestinian territories.
Chanting slogans and holding signs that read "End the Occupation" and "Settlements Are Illegal," the crowd blocked the entrance to the venue where the sale was being held. Police were present to manage the crowd, but no major incidents were reported. Organizers of the protest described the land sale as a direct attack on Palestinian rights and a flagrant breach of United Nations resolutions.
One speaker at the rally called the event "unacceptable," arguing that it normalizes the expansion of settlements, which are widely considered illegal under international law. "This is not just about property. It is about displacing families, stealing land, and destroying any hope for peace," the speaker said.
The protest comes amid rising tensions in the region, where settlement expansion has been a major obstacle to peace negotiations. Critics say that by allowing such sales to take place in London, the UK government is complicit in the violation of international law. The event organizers have not commented on the protest, but the expo proceeded as scheduled behind police lines.
