Personal finance expert Dave Ramsey has never been shy about his love for real estate. After spending decades buying, selling, and holding properties, he continues to call it one of the most dependable ways to build serious wealth. In a recent discussion, Ramsey doubled down on that view, saying that investors can make "some real money" in the space if they approach it with the right mindset.
Ramsey is not talking about flipping houses or chasing quick profits. He is a big fan of using long-term investment properties as a way to generate steady cash flow and build equity over time. His strategy leans on buying rental properties with cash or a solid down payment, avoiding risky financing, and treating the whole thing like a business rather than a gamble.
He often points out that real estate is one of the few investments where you can use leverage safely, control the asset, and benefit from both appreciation and rental income. But he also warns that it is not passive money. Landlords deal with maintenance, tenants, and market swings. Still, for those willing to put in the work, Ramsey believes the payoff can be substantial.
His advice is simple: start small, learn the market, and avoid debt. Over time, a handful of paid-off properties can replace a paycheck and fund retirement. For Ramsey, that is the real win.
